Top things to do in Washington DC in Summer (Updated September 2026)

We had a party of 7 (4 adults, 1 teen and 2 kids). The open air feel was perfect, great night. I have done many bus tours but the open top was worth it. Our driver and Elvis were great. We enjoyed seeing all the sites. Some walking required. Highly recommend!

A little more personal and interactive then a big bus tour. Covered all the major sights and driver was willing to take group pictures for us at several which was nice. Driver seemed knowledgeable, had a sense of humor and not overly political, which was appreciated.

It’s a great tour if you want to see most of the major monuments in DC in one day. A convenient and enjoyable way to experience the city’s highlights!

The views are amazing from the top. This would be a great first day in DC tour. You can get a great layout of the mall area and have a better idea where things are located. Buying tickets through Cool Washington DC is the way to go. We didn’t want to go early and wait in line for the free ones and then be disappointed if you weren’t able to go see it. Your time is valuable. Lots to see.

The tour guide, and the driver were both very professional, extremely kind and extremely knowledgeable. He was not just reading from a script, you could feel his passion for the history of DC. A very good tour, indeed!

The Tour was well worth the money. It actually exceeded my expectations becuase of how many sites we saw and the right amount of time given to explore. I recommend do this on the evening you arrive so it will give you a plan on what tk spend more time on later. Sally was very informative with lots of good stories about the history.

Driver/moderator was very good almost amazing. Really enjoyed the experience to see the downtown area and see the monuments/memorials.

Seeing the monuments and memorials on the DC night tour was amazing. Definitely a must do when in DC. Elvis, our guide was very informative. Note: There is lots of walking and stair climbing when visiting each site.

Great tour ; received insightful information that we would not have had. Excellent way to have an overview of the sights ..this was the best for Arlington cemetery

The Washington Monument was very interesting. The elevator was broken down but within 15 minutes they had it fixed. Well worth going inside and up to the top. The views are amazing!

The tour guide, Christina, did a great job. I highly recommend this tour- it was educational and entertaining.

It was absolutely amazing, a total must for anybody going to Washington DC, and the adults will love it just as much as the kids.
